Woven Wonders

Woven materials, particularly leather, are nothing new to the fashion scene. One only needs to look to Bottega Venetta's chic signature bags for proof. However, there's been an influx of woven items within the past couple of years, especially from Prada and Gucci. Spring/Summer 2012 welcomes even more of this fabulous trend. What makes it fabulous? Texture, detail, and quality. These picks below are only a few woven pieces that are hot to trot. From casual to glam, this trend is versatile and super easy to wear.

woven leather clutch by Burberry Prorsum, LuisaViaRoma $1295

This Burberry Prorsum beaut speaks for itself; it was the inspiration for this post! It just had to make an appearance on SugarSpiceStyle. Burberry Prorsum also designs this clutch in yellow and black, but the pictured color just emphasizes the richness of the bag. This clutch is a poster-child for haute couture.

cortina cuff by Giles & Brother, Revolve Clothing $179

This cuff by Giles & Brother has a unique look and materials that offer a pleasant contrast. Pair it with a leather bustier or a white T, but keep it casual or edgy with this piece. Also worth mentioning,  Revolve Clothing is one of my top sites for fashion shopping that offers lust-worthy items that are in the perfect price range for a buildable wardrobe. They also have one of the most extensive inventories of Juicy Couture on the internet, which leads nicely into my next feature...

prima flat by Juicy Couture, Neiman Marcus $228

I just can't get over how adorable these are! Although these can be worn with much, they beg to be part of a nautical ensemble. Segue! I'm over nautical as a trend. It's been around for about 5 years, so let's just all agree that a nautical-inspired look is way too fun and provides so many options that we'll happily accept it into our style hearts, forever :) That being said, nicely done, Juicy Couture, for changing it up a bit by adding a splash of yellow, a bit of neutral, and some weave!

dusty plum glenna platform by Pour La Victoire, Saks $285

These are also available in nude, but I love this dusty plum color! These are a stellar wardrobe staple for spring through fall. Although the larger weave doesn't offer the intricacy of a smaller weave, it creates an inviting pattern that allows for the appreciation of the geometric lines created by the weave. Take a close look; the bands actually gradually increase in width as they near the footbed, a nice little detail. With such a chunky and thick shoe, it seems that designers sometimes have difficulty finding aesthetically-pleasing proportions, but never fear! Pour La Victoire has done an excellent job with pulling off the thickness of this shoe and nailing perfect proportions. Bravo!

18 kt gold and brown leather cuff by Carolina Bucci, Net-A-Porter $7, 120

Here is some phenomenal cratsmanship. Wow! This cuff is the essence of luxury, yet versatile enough to work with jeans and a white T. This piece is part of Carolina Bucci's first collection, Woven. And what better way to introduce you to her than in a post on Woven Wonders! She is a fine jewelry designer to note, with fine jewelry making in her bloodline for 3 generations, a resume that includes education in Fine Arts and Jewelry Design in NYC and craftsmanship skill development in Florence, and recognition by Vanity Fair as a "Power Player" in the fine jewelry industry. As if that weren't enough to establish Ms. Bucci as noteworthy, her handmade creations have frequented magazines such as Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, and she has designs that are permanently showcased as part of the fine jewelry collection at the Palazzo Pitti Museum in Florence. Although her designs are available in fine stores across the world, they can also be found at online retailers Astley Clark and Avenue 32, as well as Net-A-Porter.
